| JYOTI Cuisine India has produced all natural foods, since
1979. Today JYOTI has a beautiful new automated kitchen and packing plant, and
supplies JYOTI foods nationwide to well known distributors, supermarkets, specialty
and
ethnic foods stores, natural food stores, and via mail order to the consumer directly. JYOTI supplies in-flight vegetarian meals to all flights of British Airways originating in the USA and all Continental flights serving hot meal. American and Continental flights to Delhi (non-stop) serve JYOTI foods to all vegetarian requests (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack etc). Many other flights also serve our our foods. How did it start Once upon a time, a young girl named Jyoti, born and raised in New Delhi, living in Houston with her Engineer husband (Vijai) and two little children, was studying for a Masters degree in Nutrition at the Texas Medical Center. Upon completion of Graduate School, she decided to start a business that she could run from home. Prepared Indian style foods of authentic taste and high quality were not available. In modern-day cooking, flavor and nutrition are the important concerns and convenience is very much desired. Recognizing that, and noting Americas intrigue with the tantalizing tastes of India, Jyoti decided to develop Indian style natural foods and sensible fat and salt content and to sell such foods via mail order from home. Jyoti developed recipes for Indian home style foods in cans, and Vijai helped with manufacturing technology for having those foods packed under JYOTI Cuisine India name. Media in Texas were most supportive, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Baytown Sun, Houston Post etc. did huge write-ups with many photos. Major stores in Texas such as Marshall Fields, Jamail's, Whole Foods, Sears health foods section, etc. put JYOTI products on their shelves. And Jyoti's business started to grow. Production of JYOTI foods at food canning companies was always difficult, as their employees generally were not familiar with the desired taste and often did not know the ingredients used. While the market grew rapidly beyond mail order, the struggle with getting the right taste and high quality products persisted. Finally one day Vijai, who holds a score of patents worldwide, decided to build a food processing plant for Jyoti, so she would be able to produce the right products. An ingenious blend of personal resources , technical and engineering expertise, and wise purchases of surplus equipment from large food corporations like Campbell Soup and Ralston Purina has produced a beautiful, modern food processing facility for JYOTI in 18 months without burdening the tax payer. The most advanced technology for cleaning beans and grains, by removing both, heavy and light impurities e.g. stones, glass, metal and, leaves, stems, insects, plastics etc., was invented by Vijai and is used at the JYOTI plant. Patents on this invention are pending worldwide and the technology is available for licensing. Packed in shelf stable, lead free, recyclable cans, JYOTI foods need no refrigeration. You can now be sure of always getting excellent quality service from Jyoti and you can expect many new, innovative food products.
