Question: I am not very familiar with Indian foods, but would like to try them. Where should I start?
Answer: Wonderful! Indian cuisine is as varied as the country and there are dishes to appeal to all tastes. We are certain you could try any product as an “entrée” into the cuisine and have a positive experience. However, here are some suggestions:
- one of our simmer sauces (for example, the JYOTi Saffron Cream sauce), to which you can add your favorite vegetables, meats, tofu etc. The simmer sauces are very versatile products.
- rice and beans is not an unfamiliar combination to most palates. You could try our JYOTi Dal Makhani, a creamy lentil stew, combined with our Basmati Rice for a filling, satisfying and extremely nutritious meal.

Question: Sometimes I find the Indian food at my local restaurant a bit too spicy for my tastes. How spicy are your products?
Answer: Although Indian cuisine has the reputation for being extremely spicy, in fact, most Indians do not eat mouth-searing foods at home. Our products, while highly flavorful and authentically seasoned, are generally not “hot” for the Western palate. Many American customers tell us that their children have grown up eating JYOTi products since they were toddlers! Give it a try; you will probably find that the JYOTi products’ spice level is well within your threshold, without being bland.
Question: What makes your products healthy? Sometimes I hear that traditional Indian food contains a lot of salt and fat?
Answer: India has given the world one of the oldest, most varied, and healthful cuisines. However over the evolution of the cuisine, the Northern Indian cuisine, in particular, adopting more dairy products and fat in their preparations. However, as in most cultures, Indians too making a greater effort to keep the fat and salt content in their meals low.
JYOTi Natural Cuisine was developed by Jyoti Gupta, a registered dietician with a long career in advising medical facilities on nutritional best practices. She adopted those same standards in the formulation of her own products: JYOTi foods are low in fat and salt content and contain only top quality, fresh ingredients, requiring no preservatives or artificial products to enhance their great natural flavor. For those with dietary restrictions, all JYOTi products are gluten-free, and a number of our products are dairy free, as well.
Question: Are JYOTi products organic?
Answer: Good question. While we pride ourselves on offering foods made with only natural and healthy ingredients, our products are not currently certified organic. However, our new organic JYOTi line has been under development and we expect to be taking it to market soon, so look out for them!
Question: My local supermarket does not carry your products. Where can I find JYOTi Natural products?
Answer: More and more national and regional supermarket chains are stocking JYOTi products, however if you can’t find them in your neighborhood, you can order safely and conveniently through our website. We also encourage you to ask your local store to carry our products; sometimes all it takes is a single request!
